Privacy notice

Draft of 17 October 2026

Me, Lately is a habit tracker that keeps your data on your phone. This notice says, in plain words, what we collect, why, where it goes and what you can do about it.

Without an account (most people)

  • Your habits, logs, rest days, weekly ratings, notes and mood and energy tags are stored only on your phone. We never see them.
  • Backups are files you save yourself, wherever you choose (Files, Drive, email). We never see them either.
  • Reminders are scheduled on your phone. Our servers send no notifications unless you join a Habit Circle (below).

If you create an account to sync (Plus)

  • We store your email address, or the identifier Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them.
  • We store a copy of your habits, logs, rest days, pauses, weekly reviews (including your notes) and mood and energy tags so your phones can stay in sync.
  • You can delete the account and everything synced to it at any time: in the app (Settings › Account and sync) or at web.melately.app/delete-account.

Habit Circles (optional, needs an account)

  • A circle shares only the habits you pick. The rest of your grid stays on your phone, and members never see it.
  • For each shared habit we store its name and how it is measured, and for each day whether it landed on the good side and in which shade. The value itself (a time or a number) is stored only while you leave Show my values on.
  • We also store the circle's name, the name you choose to show in it, the cheers and nudges sent in it, and, if you allow notifications, your phone's push token so cheers, nudges and the Sunday recap can reach you. Notifications are sent through Expo's push service.
  • Leaving a circle deletes your squares and cheers in it. Deleting your account removes you from every circle.

Purchases

  • Plus is bought through the App Store or Google Play. They handle payment; we never see your card or UPI details.
  • We use RevenueCat to check which purchases are active. It receives the store's purchase record and a random ID, or your account ID if you're signed in.

Usage analytics and crash reports

  • We count which features get used (for example, that a log was made and what type of habit it was) with PostHog. These events never include habit names, notes, values or tags. You can turn this off in Settings › About.
  • When the app crashes, Sentry receives the error, your phone model, system version and app version. Never your habits.

Tell the cat (feedback)

  • When you send a message we receive what you wrote, your phone model, system and app version, and the screen you were on.
  • If you attach a screenshot, habit names and values are blurred on your phone before it is sent.
  • Your email is included only if you type it in, so we can reply.
  • Votes on the Ideas board and "Your notes" are tied to a random ID made on your phone, not to you or your account.

What we never do

  • No advertising, no ad SDKs, and we never sell or rent your data.
  • No location, contacts, camera or microphone access.

Age

  • Me, Lately is for people aged 18 and over. The app asks you to confirm this before you start.

Your choices and rights

  • You can see, export (Plus), correct or delete your data in the app, and delete all data on your phone with Settings › Delete all my data.
  • Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can also ask us about the data we hold, ask us to correct or erase it, and raise a grievance. Write to hello@melately.app.
